Everything a Polk County homeowner asks us.
Permits, panel upgrades, EV chargers, emergency calls — answered in plain language by licensed Florida electricians.
General
Licensing, service area, and how we work.
Yes. Polk Electric is a Florida State Certified Electrical Contractor, License # EC13015745, fully insured, and warranty-backed.
Our primary service area includes Lakeland, Winter Haven, Auburndale, Bartow, Mulberry, and surrounding Polk County communities. If you're outside our primary service area, give us a call to see if we can accommodate your location.
We look at the actual conditions, explain what the work involves, and give you an upfront price before anything starts. If we find something hidden once we open a wall or panel, we stop and review the change with you first.
Electrical Repairs
Troubleshooting, outlets, and circuits that misbehave.
It can be. Flickering often points to a loose neutral, a failing breaker, or an overloaded circuit — all worth diagnosing quickly. We troubleshoot to the root cause and give you a straight answer before recommending any work.
Reset it once. If it trips again, stop and call us — a repeat trip means the breaker is doing its job and something on that circuit is drawing too much current or has a fault. We trace the circuit and fix the cause rather than swapping the breaker and hoping.
Yes. An outlet that has lost power can be caused by several issues, including a failed device, faulty wiring, a tripped GFCI or breaker, or a break somewhere in the circuit. We can troubleshoot the issue, identify the cause, and make the necessary repair.
Panel Upgrades
Service upgrades, permits, and capacity.
Most residential electrical panel change outs take a single day. We pull permits, coordinate the utility disconnect, install the new panel, and schedule the inspection — you're powered back up the same evening in the vast majority of cases.
Yes. When a permit is required for the work being performed, we handle the permitting and inspection process from start to finish.
Common signs are a full panel with no room for additional breakers, an electrical service that may no longer meet the needs of the home, scorching or rust inside the panel, or a panel brand with a known history of problems. We'll assess your system and let you know whether an upgrade is actually needed.
EV Chargers
Level 2 installs sized correctly for your home.
Absolutely. We size the dedicated circuit correctly for your charger and panel capacity, run the wire cleanly, and mount the unit where it's most convenient. Most installs are done in a single visit.
Often yes, but it depends on your existing service size and load. We run a load calculation before quoting so you never end up with a charger your panel can't safely feed — and if an upgrade is needed, we tell you upfront.
Lighting
Interior, exterior, and landscape lighting.
Yes. Recessed cans, under-cabinet, pendants, landscape uplighting, path lighting — we handle the full residential lighting scope, from a single fixture to a whole-home relight.
We do it all the time. LED retrofits cut energy use, run cooler, and last far longer. We'll match color temperature across the room so the result looks intentional rather than patched together.
Safety
Emergencies, inspections, and peace of mind.
We do our best to accommodate same-day or next-day service when availability allows. Give us a call and we'll work to get you scheduled as quickly as possible.
Burning smells, smoke, sparking outlets, hot switch plates, a panel that's warm to the touch, or any loss of power involving visible damage. Shut the affected circuit off if you safely can, and if there is any immediate danger call 911 or your utility. Then reach out to us and we'll get you scheduled as soon as possible.
Yes. We regularly clear electrical items flagged on a four-point or buyer's inspection — double-taps, missing GFCI protection, ungrounded outlets, and panel deficiencies — and document the work for your file.
